Let’s start with the big main reason – ownership. Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, all the other platforms actually own your website. Build your site with any of them and you are beholden to their whims. You’re actually a digital sharecropper on leased land.
WordPress is a self-contained bunch of files. If you don’t like your hosting company you can transfer the files into another hosting account. WordPress allows you to actually own the land your website resides upon. You will be beholden to no one. WordPress is a crowd-sourced software, it will remain free, and it is the industry standard.
In the big picture, you will invest hundreds, if not thousands of hours building onto your business website each year. You don’t want to waste all that effort simply because Wix or Squarespace goes out of business. Yikes!
Second reason – user permissions. Everyone in the company can be involved with maintaining the website through various permission levels. Limited access can be granted so the staff can contribute without the ability to damage the site in any way.
Third reason – ultimately the most affordable platform. WordPress appears to be pricier because you are required to purchase the plugin functionality up front. When viewed as an investment into the coming years, I guarantee you will get the best bang for the buck.
Fourth reason – Google loves WordPress. If your goal is SEO Google search engine traffic it is best to be on a platform the Google understands perfectly. If you can please Google he will pay you back with ranking. I’ll show you how its done.

Plugins are what separates the men from the boys in the WordPress marketing world. They are code packages that come from third party vendors. Any cool feature you would like to have on your site, I guarantee there is a plugin for it.
I do help configure plugins and strongly suggest having a WordPress designer by your side while choosing plugin features. Some are free, some require licensing, and some you should stay away from.
